Sogginess Saunters Into Weekend

A low-end severe threat rolls into our area Saturday afternoon.

Happy Friday! Clouds have reclaimed the Carolina skies after a beautiful Thursday. Most of us have remained dry this afternoon, but scattered showers will push through our area overnight. Unfortunately, a slow-moving rainmaking system to our southwest will dominate our weekend weather pattern. We’ll also watch for a low-end severe threat later in the day on Saturday, as a few strong storms may pack gusty winds and small hail. The tornado threat is minuscule, but nonzero. A few showers and even an isolated storm may linger into our Sunday morning, but most of the moisture will be gone by the afternoon. Highs will approach 80º on Saturday around the Metro before dropping a bit on Sunday.

The workweek ahead starts on a fantastic note, with plentiful sunshine and highs near 80º on Monday. The good times will keep on rolling through midweek, although the heat and humidity may make time spent outdoors uncomfortable on Wednesday. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the mid-to-upper 80s in Charlotte for our Hump Day. More rain chances arrive towards the back half of next week, but highs may approach 90º next Thursday and Friday despite the storms.
