Pedestrian Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver In Concord
CONCORD, N.C. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver in Concord on Friday afternoon, according to the City of Concord.
Around 1:27 p.m. Friday, officers responded to Davidson Highway near Winecoff School Road in regards to a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Officials said the pedestrian, 35-year-old John Lee Stevenson Jr., of Concord, was walking west on Davidson Highway. He was struck by a Nissan Titan pickup truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver, 41-year-old David Royce Brown, of Concord, was impaired during the collision.
As such, Brown was arrested and charged with habitual impaired driving and second-degree murder. He is being held in the Cabarrus County Jail without bond.
No further details were released about the crash.
