Sunny Skies, Warmer Highs Into Workweek
Four straight rain-free days ahead will be good enough for the driest stretch we've seen in nearly four weeks.
We woke up to overcast skies this morning, but we’re putting the sun back in Sunday this afternoon. Despite the return of our favorite ball of hydrogen and helium, temperatures are struggling to clear the 70s today thanks to winds out of the northeast. Expect a comfy, cool, and clear night as lows dip into 40s and 50s across the western half of the Carolinas. Bright blue skies make another appearance on Monday – and the dry times will likely stick around. Significant rain chances remain at bay through midweek; if Charlotte Douglas doesn’t receive any rain through Thursday, this will be our driest stretch in nearly four weeks.
Our next rainmaking system encroaches upon the Carolinas by Thursday evening. Models are suggesting the incoming cold front will approach from the northwest, meaning most of the moisture may get hung up in the mountains. Regardless, we’ll need to watch for a few showers and storms toward the back half of the workweek. The bigger story will be the heat – highs will soar near 90° Wednesday through Friday, especially south and east of the Metro. Next weekend looks quite summery, with highs in the mid-80s and a few pop-up storms.
