Police Arrest And Charge Woman After Shooting In A Gastonia Walmart Parking Lot

Gastonia detectives say they have arrested and charged 32-year-old Tane’z Sanders for her involvement in a shooting that occurred in a Walmart parking lot on May 9, 2024.
According to a news release, Sanders is charged with five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one misdemeanor count of armed terror to the public.

GASTONIA, N.C. – A woman was injured in an officer-involved shooting in a Walmart parking lot in Gastonia Thursday morning, according to the Gastonia Police Department.
It happened at the Walmart Supercenter on East Franklin Boulevard at around 6:42 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police responded to the area after the woman was involved in a traffic accident. With three young children in the car, she drove a black Nissan Altima up a median and got stuck on a tree.
When a man attempted to help her, police said she began to fire a weapon. An officer responding to the area fired a weapon at the woman, hitting her one time, officials said.
Police said the woman did not sustain life-threatening injuries from the gunshot wound. The children’s ages were 10, seven and one. The one-year-old was transported to the hospital as a precaution for respiratory issues, officials said.
Police did not say if the woman will face any charges.
An investigation into this case is underway by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
