CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Detectives are searching for 19-year-old Juan David Rodriguez Garcia in connection to the murder of 51-year-old Shawn Powell, that occurred on May 5, 2024, according to a news release.

The release states that Powell was killed on Albemarle Road after officers found him with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. After a thorough investigation, CMPD’s Homicide Unit detectives identified Garcia as a suspect and is requesting the public’s help in finding him.
Anyone with information on Garcia’s whereabouts is asked to call CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team at 704-336-8228. Garcia should be considered armed and dangerous.
