Police Charge Rock Hill Man With Attempted Murder

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Rock Hill Police arrested and charged a man after shooting and wounding two individuals, according to a news release.

The release states that police were dispatched to Herlong Avenue on May 21 is response to a shooting and discovered a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his mouth and 20-year-old woman with a graze wound. The victims say they told the police that the suspect was a black man wearing all black and fled on a bicycle.

Officers say they dispatched the Rock Hill K-9 Tracking Team and found the suspect, Lamarius Howze on South Cherry Road and took him in to custody.

After an investigation, it was revealed that Howze knew the victims and saw them drive into a parking lot and engaged in an argument that resulted in the victim pulling out a pistol. According to the release, Howze took control of the pistol and fired several shots, while the victims attempted to flee away in their vehicle.

Howze was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
