LANCASTER, S.C. – Amanda Henry, a preschool teacher at a daycare on Springdale Road in Lancaster, South Carolina, was accused of abusing a student and arrested, according to an incident report by Officer Black.
The report states that a complaint was filed on on April 20, 2024 and accuses Henry of allegedly shoving, kicking, pushing and dragging a student. These accusations in the report are based on surveillance video of the daycare.
The incident occurred on April 17, where the parents of two children, both boys, noticed injuries and one child claimed a woman jumped on his back, according to Officer Black.
Officer Black goes on to say in the report that after the boys were dropped off and were led inside, one of them attempted to run out of the front door, leading Henry to pick up the child while they are kicking and thrashing. Once Henry brings the child inside, she shoves them and appears to kick him and then pushes him after he got up and drags by his ears into the classroom, as said in the report.
It was noted in the report that a witness said that Henry was a “great preschool teacher and that when she left her last job to come there, her whole class moved to follow her.”
Henry was taken into custody on May 22 and is being charged with one count of cruelty to children.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
