CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Officials confirmed that a raccoon tested positive for rabies, the eighth case in Mecklenburg County of 2024.
Residents of Moretz Avenue in the 28206 zip code will receive a notification that a raccoon in the area tested positive for rabies.
Officials said that there are no human or domestic pet exposures.
This is the seventh raccoon to test positive for rabies in Mecklenburg County this year. A Bovine also tested positive in the 28227 zip code.
There have been at least 14 positive cases in Mecklenburg County in each of the past five years.
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the following zip codes:
- 28210
- 28208
- 28278 (twice)
- 28227
- 28209
- 28206
