Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano Began Erupting Early Monday

The eruption has paused for now, but seismicity and degassing continues

One of the most active volcanoes in the world has just paused eruption.

Kilauea, began erupting early Monday in a remote area that last erupted in December 1974.

According to the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, due to the remote location of the eruption… this does not pose an immediate threat to human life or critical infrastructure.

The eruption has paused for now, but seismicity and degassing continues
