CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 26-year-old man died at the hospital following a vehicle collision on I-277 early Tuesday morning.
It happened around 2:20 a.m. on John Belk Freeway, I-277, near South Boulevard.
When police arrived, they located an overturned Jeep, a damaged Hyundai and an unresponsive man in the roadway.
Police administered CPR on the scene. Medic later transported the man, 26-year-old Frederick Brown Jr., to Atrium Main where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation determined that Brown, operating a Jeep Wrangler, struck the Hyundai vehicle. Police said Brown lost control of his vehicle, struck a concrete median and overturned. He also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Jeep.
The Hyundai driver, 20-year-old Goodness Odoemena, suffered minor injuries from the crash.
CMPD is still investigating this crash.
