Police: Woman Arrested After Fatally Striking Pedestrian In Matthews

A woman has been arrested for fatally striking a pedestrian after running a stop sign Monday, according to a police report.

Upon arriving to the scene officers say they witnessed a pedestrian with severe injuries and a 2012 BMW with left front-end damage in the roadway. Police say the BMW was driven 41-year-old Olga Dadalko.

Medic transported the pedestrian, identified as 75-year-old Mehmet Bagci to Atrium Health Main where he was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Dadalko was making a left turn onto McKee Road from Hampsted Pond Lane when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Bagci as he was crossing McKee Road.

The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing.  Any person who witnessed the crash or has information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
