7-Foot Hoodwinker Sunfish Washes Ashore

GEARHART, OR – A rare fish that washed ashore has been attracting visitors to Oregon’s coast. 

This rare hoodwinker sunfish was found on Gearhart Beach.

The hoodwinker sunfish was only just discovered in 2014 and this is one of the largest ones ever seen.

The sunfish is likely to be on the beach for days or even weeks to come, as their tough skin makes it hard for scavengers to puncture.
