Police: Man On Electric Scooter Killed In Hit And Run

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD officers are investigating a hit and run crash on North Tryon Street that resulted in the death of 62-year-old Curtis Bing, according to a news release.

The release states that on June 9 at 10:00 p.m., officers responded to a hit and run vehicle collision call on the 5000 block of North Tryon Street where they found Bing lying unresponsive in the road, where was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before the officers arrived.

As a result of a preliminary investigation, officers say Bing was on an electric scooter and was heading in the same direction as the vehicle before being hit. The driver did not stop or return to the scene.

It was also noted that Bing was not wearing a helmet.
