NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C – A 14-year-old boy is recovering in the hospital after being bitten in the leg by a shark on North Topsail Beach. It happened Sunday around 12:30 in the afternoon. Blayne Brown of West Virginia was on vacation with his grandmother. She tells WCCB that he was in waist-deep water when the shark bit him.

He’s had surgery to repair some torn tendons and is expected to make a full recovery.

They think it was a bull shark that bit him. Blayne says he won’t be going back into the ocean “any time soon.”
