Rock Hill Gets $250k From HFH Following April Storm

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Habitat for Humanity of York County (HFHYC) is proud to announce a significant commitment of $250,000 in funding to aid the recovery efforts on the South Side of Rock Hill after the catastrophic wind and hailstorm that struck the area on April 20, 2024. This initiative will specifically focus on assisting uninsured homeowners who have sustained severe storm damage with critical home repairs, aligning with HFHYC’s enduring dedication to community revitalization.

The April wind and hailstorm caused widespread damage across Rock Hill, leaving many residents, particularly those without insurance, facing insurmountable repair costs. In response, HFHYC is stepping forward to provide crucial assistance to those most affected, ensuring that they can rebuild and restore their homes and lives.

“Habitat for Humanity of York County is deeply committed to creating a Beloved Community where everyone, irrespective of income, race, gender, or religion, has the opportunity to thrive,” said Tim Veeck, CEO of HFHYC. “HFHYC has partnered with the Crawford Road community for years, and our Board has made this funding commitment to demonstrate our solidarity and partnership with the South Side of Rock Hill and to highlight the necessity for equitable opportunities to recover from this storm.”

In addition to addressing immediate storm damage with uninsured homeowners and other disaster response supportive services, HFHYC will continue its long-term commitment to advocating for equitable development and collaborating in revitalization efforts within the South Side of Rock Hill. These ongoing revitalization activities aim to improve living conditions, promote homeownership, and enhance the overall quality of life in the area in keeping with residents’ aspirations. This funding commitment will bolster these efforts, providing a dual benefit of storm recovery and sustainable community development.

In addition to HFHYC’s funding commitment of $250,000, the organization expressed tremendous gratitude to the following community partners that donated funds to support its disaster response efforts:
