HICKORY, N.C. – A death investigation is underway after a wanted suspect was found dead on Thursday, June 27th.
Officer responded to a residence on 9th Avenue Drive NE in Hickory in an attempt to locate the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Dallas Gragg. Gragg was wanted for several felony charges including the following:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury.
- One count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
- One count of possession of firearm by felon.
The charges stem from a shooting and armed robbery that occurred on Valley Arbors Drive, on June 20th, 2024 in which Gragg was listed a suspect.
Officers watching the residence say they witnessed Gragg exit and then re-enter the residence, according to a news release.
Officers say they were not able to establish contact to take him into custody, but they confirmed with several occupants exiting the residence that Gragg was still in the home, according to a news release.
After multiple failed attempts to established communication with Gragg officers made entry into the home and discovered Gragg dead in the attic.
Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
