Harry Potter Cover Art Sells For Record Amount

Harry Potter is casting another spell.

The cover art for the first edition of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” just sold for nearly $2 million dollars.

The water-colored painting was auctioned by Sotheby’s for $1.9 million. The price tag makes it the most expensive item related to the series.

The artist behind the cover, Thomas Taylor, helped establish Harry Potter’s iconic round glasses and lightning bolt scar.
