Deputies: Marijuana And Stolen Handgun Found In 18-Year-Old’s Vehicle

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – An 18-year-old has been arrested after a deputy found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a stolen handgun in his vehicle, according to a news release.

The release states that a search of a Volkswagen Jetta was conducted during a driver’s license checkpoint by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was occupied by three 18-year-old boys.

During the search, deputies found all three occupants were in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as a handgun in the front passenger seat area of the Jetta, as said in the release.

Deputy M. Sharpe says that he confirmed the handgun was stolen out of Charlotte after running the serial number and one of the occupants, Braydon Trench, admitted ownership of the handgun.

Trench was arrested and the other two were issued citations for marijuana and paraphernalia.

Trench is facing charges for:

  • Felony possession of a stolen firearm
  • Misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun
  • Misdemeanor possession of marijuana
  • Misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia
