CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police arrested 12 individuals and seized one firearm, but no major incidents occurred during the 4th of July festivities in Uptown, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers also seized one magazine of ammunition, over 12 pounds of marijuana and three boxes of fireworks.
Of the 12 arrested, two were adults and the other 10 were juveniles.
In preparation, officers conducted home visits for prior juvenile offenders in an effort to discourage criminal behavior, CMPD said. Of the 32 home visits, only one re-offended during the holiday celebrations.
The two adults arrested were 18-year-old Kendric Patton and 27-year-old Maurice Brown. Patton is charged with resist/delay/obstruct and simple drug possession. The 10 juveniles were between the ages of 13 and 17. Their charges include carrying a concealed weapon, affray, possession of pyrotechnics, possession of marijuana and resist/delay/obstruct.
