CLOVER. N.C. – A Clover man has been charged after engaging in a standoff with SWAT early Friday morning.
Officers say they received reports of a possible domestic disturbance on Stanton Street. After several attempts to reason with the suspect, identified as 57-year-old William Jeffreris, the Clover SWAT team was called to deescalate the situation. Upon arrival, officers say shots could be heard from inside the home, and shorty after, Jeffreris began shooting at officers outside, according to a news release.
SWAT immediately cleared residences surrounding the home where Jeffreris was shooting from. After five hours, officers were able to apprehend Jeffreris and take him into custody.
Following his arrest, Jeffreris was transported to the Piedmont Medical Center for evaluation and then to the Moss Justice Center where he was charged with attempted murder.
No injuries were reported.
