STATESVILLE, N.C. – Statesville Police are looking for a suspect wanted for critically injuring a 28-year-old man in an overnight shooting, according to the police department.
Around 3 a.m. Friday, officers responded to Gay Street in Statesville in regards to shots fired. When officers arrived, witnesses told them that the victim was shot multiple times but was already being transported to the hospital in another vehicle.
The victim, Desmond Reshawn Gray, arrived at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He sustained life-threatening wounds to his legs and was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Regional Medical Center for additional treatment.
Gray is in critical condition at this time, officials said. Police also processed the vehicle that was used to transport Gray to the hospital.
No other information about the shooting was released. It is still under an active investigation
