Olympics Doping Investigation
The U.S. government opened a criminal investigation into a doping case involving Chinese swimmers.
World Aquatics says its executive director is ordered to testify.
The case involves 23 Chinese swimmers who failed doping tests several months before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics but still competed in the Games. Some of the swimmers won medals.
China’s Anti-Doping Agency has said that the athletes tested positive for an extremely low concentration of a banned performance-enhancing substance at a national competition.
The agency found the swimmers had been inadvertently exposed to the drug.
