McDowell County Emergency Management has confirmed that three people have died in the airplane crash in McDowell County.

DYSARTSVILLE, N.C. – A small plane was reported missing before being located near the McDowell and Rutherford County line, according to a news release.
The release states that a downed aircraft was found by emergency personnel on Brackett Town Road near Vein Mountain Road.
The search and rescue efforts are ongoing and the public is asked to avoid the area.
