CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Detectives with CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit have arrested and charged a driver, Dimas Ramirez, in connection to a fatal crash from February, according to a news release.
The release states that on February 10, 2024, officers responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Central Avenue and North Sharon Amity Road and found two vehicles involved.
A Chevrolet Uplander was lying on its passenger side and a Honda Accord has damage to the front end, as said by police. Police further said that an occupant of the Uplander was partially ejected from the vehicle and unresponsive. He was identified as 39-year-old Abigail Romero and pronounced dead on the scene.
Two other occupants of the Uplander suffered injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Edward Jenkins, the driver of the Honda, and three passengers remained on the scene and were not injured.
The preliminary investigation suggested in the news release that the Uplander entered the intersection at North Sharon Amity Road with a solid red light and collided with the Accord.
After a five-month-long investigation, detectives arrested the driver of the Uplander, 22-year-old Dimas Ramirez and charged him with:
- Felony death by motor vehicle
