Suspect Charged With Murder In University City Homicide
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police have charged a 22-year-old man with murder in connection to a homicide this past Tuesday near the University City area.
Following an investigation into the homicide, the Concord Police Department obtained arrest warrants for Demarius Jeprese Poole.
Poole was already in custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office for unrelated charges. He has been charged with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle in connection to the homicide.
The shooting happened on Carver Boulevard near West Sugar Creek Road. Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to Atrium Health University in regards to a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, later identified as 19-year-old Marquez Alexander Summers, died at the hospital.
