Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Dog On Wilkes County Road

ROARING RIVER, N.C. – A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after colliding with a dog in the road in Wilkes County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Around 2 p.m., deputies responded to Bethany Ford Road near Royal Hill Road in Roaring River to investigate a fatal collision.

Fabieus Mark Myers, 55, operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was traveling north on Bethany Ford Road when he struck a dog in the road, the highway patrol said.

Myers lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected.

Myers died while being transported to the hospital.

Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
