VALE, N.C. – North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision in Lincoln County at an intersection of NC 18 and NC 10, according to a news release.
The release states that on July 15, at 7:20 am, a 2019 Dodge Ram Truck, driven by 31-year-old Jose Moreno, was traveling west on NC 10. A 1997 Dodge van, driven by 59-year-old Barry Mckee, who was traveling south on NC 18.
N.C. State Highway Patrol said Moreno failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by Mckee, causing Mckee’s van to overturn.
Moreno and the other three passengers were not injured. Mckee succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Moreno has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, no operator’s license and failure to yield. Impairment and speed to not seem to be contributing factors.
