Police have identified victim in the North Charlotte shooting as 18-year-old Rashaka Prince.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investing after a person was pronounced dead in North Charlotte on Thursday.

Cattail Court

Officers responded to a call for service on Cattail Court near Plaza Road Extension where they witnessed a man suffering from gunshot wounds shortly after 1:15 p.m.

The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. Representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, CFD and MEDIC also assisted. This investigation is active an on-going.

Two more shootings followed in the area. One on the 5900 block of Hunters Crossing Lane around 2:30 pm, and a third just before 6pm on the 6000 block of Craftsbury Lane.

In both shootings, victims were transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
