CHARLOTTE, S.C. — President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 Presidential race Saturday. People across the Charlotte have reacted to Biden’s decision. Voters around charlotte say they were not surprised to hear that Biden dropped out of the Presidential race.
Both Democrats and Republicans seem to agree that Biden bowing out could be for the best. Some democrats were happy hear that President Joe Biden will not seek reelection. John Alexander is a self described Democrat. He says he’s satisfied with the work Biden has done while in office.
Alexander is now ready to see the Democratic parties new candidate. He believes Vice President Kamala Harris could have what it takes to beat the Republicans at the polls, especially now that the President has endorsed her.
“They are more scared of Kamala than they let on,” Alexander said. “They know she’s a smart person.”
Self described Republicans around Charlotte say whether it’s Vice President Harris or not, they don’t see any Democratic nominee getting more votes than Republican nominee, Donald Trump.
“I just don’t see them winning just because at this point, they’re not competing against Trump so much as they are competing against their own results,” said Christian Serrano.
Another Charlotte Republican said she thinks it’s too little too late for the Democrats.
“They aren’t giving themselves really enough time to prepare,” Stephanie Nabb said. “They probably should have made this decision a lot sooner.”
The opposition believes there is more than enough time.
Alexander says he thinks a candidate will be chosen quickly, even before the Democratic National Convention in mid August. He only hopes that all Democrats are on the same page.
