Man Pleads Guilty To Forcible Sex Offense Charges
MOORESVILLE, N.C. – AA 31-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday to three counts of forcible sex offense in a case from June of 2022, according to the Mooresville Police Department.
Michael Brandon Shinn accepted an Alford Plea for three counts of second-degree forcible sex offense. He was sentenced to 50-120 months.
On June 19, 2022, police responded to 1459 River Highway in Mooresville in regards to a sexual assault. Police encountered the victim, who said that she met Shinn online and agreed to meet him three days prior.
The victim got Shinn’s car and went to a remote parking lot near McCrary Creek Access Area where she was forcibly sexually assaulted, police said. Following the incident, the victim was left in the parking lot without her phone or vehicle.
Police said they identified Shinn as the suspect and connected him to two other incidents involving him targeting women online.
Shinn will need to register as a sex offender for 30 years along with permanent no-contact orders against the victims. He will also be on probation for 10 years following his release.
