CHARLOTTE, N.C. β Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will welcome back more than 140,000 students for the 2024-25 school year on Monday, August 26, 2024. With the first day of school fast approaching, CMS would like to remind parents, caregivers and guardians to register their students for transportation as soon as possible. As of Monday, July 29, 2024, more than 75,000 people have registered, an increase of 6,000 registrations compared to this time last year. In order to best ensure transportation for your child on the first day of school, registration must be completed before 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. Registration can be completed here.Β

- Eligible students who are enrolled in CMS by August 1 and have registered for transportation services, should have a stop for the first day of school, Monday, August 26.Β Note:Β Registered means the student has been entered in PowerSchoolΒ andΒ requested transportation viaΒ this link by 6:00 p.m. on August 1.
- Eligible students who have moved, had a change in PowerSchool, and have registered for transportation between August 2 and August 22, should have their stop in place for the afternoon bus ride Tuesday, August 27. This includes new students enrolled within the dates above.Β Note:Β Priority is given to eligible students requesting service to and from home to school, it may take several weeks to process alternate stops/daycare stops at the beginning of the school year.
- Eligible students who have moved, had a change in PowerSchool, and have registered for transportation between August 23 and August 27, should have their stop in place for the afternoon bus ride on Thursday, August 29. Note: priority is given to eligible students requesting service to and from home to school, it may take several weeks to process alternate stops/daycare stops at the beginning of the school year.
- Eligible students who have moved, had a change in PowerSchool, and have registered for transportation between August 28 and August 30, and are eligible for transportation should have their stop in place for the afternoon bus ride on Wednesday, September 4. This includes new students enrolled within the dates above. Note: Priority is given to eligible students requesting service to and from home to school, it may take several weeks to process alternate stops/daycare stops at the beginning of the school year.
- Students who have moved, had their new address recorded in PowerSchool on September 1 or later, and are eligible for transportation will have their bus stop set by the Transportation Area office through the AlphaRoute program.
