Three Arrested In Caldwell County Homicide
CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. – Three people were arrested in connection to a homicide investigation where a body was found along a highway in Caldwell County.
Felix Mejia, 21, Ricci Puerto, 18, and Rina Cano, 20, were all arrested Tuesday on charges related to the death of 47-year-old Jeimy Alexander Bohorquez-Reyes.
Around 2 a.m. on July 28th, deputies located a body on the northbound side of US Highway 321. The body, later identified as Bohorquez-Reyes, died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Bohorquez-Reyes’ vehicle, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was found hours later in Charlotte. Deputies said the suspects attempted to set it on fire.
Mejia was charged with first-degree murder, burning personal property and malicious use of an incendiary device. He is being held without bond in the Caldwell County Detention Center.
Puerto and Cano were both charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder. Puerto received a $250,000 bond.
