Gaston County Man Charged With Killing Wife With Eyedrops, Now Accused of Poisoning Daughter and Intimidating Witnesses

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The Gaston County man accused of poisoning and killing his wife with eye drops is now accused of trying the same on his own daughter. Prosecutors want that man’s bond revoked.

WCCB Charlotte’s Zane Cina got a hold of new charges in this ongoing case.

Joshua Hunsucker has been indicted by a grand jury on four new charges of intimidating a witness and obstruction of justice. Hunsucker is already accused of killing his wife in 2018 by poisoning her drinks with lethal doses of eye drops, and he is still awaiting trial in that case. Hunsucker is also accused of starting a fire on a medical helicopter while it was airborne in 2019.

Gaston County jail records show that Hunsucker was arrested again on August 6th. His bond is set at $1.5 million.

New court documents obtained by WCCB show that on the same day as Hunsucker’s latest arrest, prosecutors issued a motion to revoke his bond. Prosecuters claim that in early February, Hunsucker staged his own kidnapping in an attempt to try to shift blame for the death of his wife.

In the motion, prosecutors allege that Hunsucker poisoned his 11-year-old daughter in the same way his wife was allegedly killed. Hunsucker’s daughter has since recovered from the poisoning, and Hunsucker has lost custody of his two children.

Prosecutors also list nine different instances of Hunsucker allegedly intimidating a witness in his case.
The motion details how Hunsucker would routinely video and follow the witnesses while making vulgar gestures. The motion states that one one occasion Hunsucker sent a threatening package to the witnesses home.

The motion concludes that the prosecutors believes Hunsucker’s dangerous actions will only continue, and the state has asked the court to revoke his bond in this case. The motion was signed August 6th by District Attorney Travis Page.
