FBI Needs Assistance Locating Escaped Murder Convict In North Carolina

WINDSOR, N.C. — The FBI is asking for the public’s assistance in locating an escaped inmate who was convicted of murdering a one-year-old in Chapel Hill.

Authorities say Ramone Alston escaped from a Department of Adult Correction’s vehicle on August 13th after state corrections officers transported him to the UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus for a medical appointment, according to a news release.

Alston was last seen wearing handcuffs connected to a waist chain, a gray t-shirt, and gray/brown pants. Alston is serving a life sentence in prison in the Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor, North Carolina, for the 2015 Christmas Day murder of a one-year-old child.

Anyone with information on Alston’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
