American Airlines Flight From Charlotte Makes Emergency Landing In Raleigh

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An American Airlines flight that left Charlotte and was heading to Connecticut had to make an emergency landing in Raleigh.

American Airlines flight 2392 was seen being towed off the runway after making the emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Thursday morning.

American Airlines says the emergency landing was due to an odor in the cabin. WCCB has reached out to American Airlines who sent the following statement:

American Airlines flight 2392 with service from Charlotte (CLT) to Windsor Locks, Connecticut (BDL) diverted to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) due to reports of a possible odor in the cabin. The flight landed safely and the aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team. Customers will continue on to BDL on a replacement aircraft shortly. We thank our crew members for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.

A passenger reached out to WCCB and said he heard a loud bang and then smoke appeared on the right side coming from the engine.
