CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that resulted in the death of one person, according to a news release.
The release states that officers responded to a motor vehicle crash call on August 15 at around 7:45 a.m. that involved three vehicles, a 2021 Toyota RAV4, a 2019 Honda Passport and a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder.
Officers say all three vehicles were heavily damaged and pronounced the driver of the Toyota, 50-year-old Daryl Wright, dead on the scene.
A preliminary investigation suggests that Wright struck the Honda while driving at a high speed and was overturned, striking the Nissan and a utility pole.
The drivers of the Honda and Nissan suffered minor injuries and were treated on the scene.
