CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte woman died after being hit by a train while walking on the railroad tracks Friday morning.
The accident happened around 9:15 a.m. Friday near the railroad tracks west of West Summit Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive woman next to the tracks. The woman, 36-year-old Midaina Marrero, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police investigation found that Marrero was walking on the tracks when she was hit by the train.
The incident is still under an active investigation.
