Police Identify Pedestrian Killed In Accident On I-485 Ramp At Mt. Holly Road

Police have identified 29 year-old Brian Battle as the victim who was fatally inured in Thursday’s crash on I-485 ramp. Neither of the officers involved were seriously injured.

The driver of the motorhome that struck the victim and officers has been identified as Robert Ewrin Reiser – his injuries are considered non-life threatening. Formal charges have not been filed at this time.

The investigation into this crash is active and ongoing.

CMPD officers were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle on the shoulder of I-485 at Mt. Holly Road when a vehicle that was not part of the investigation struck two police cars sending the driver on once police car into an embankment. Police say, the person who was reporting the stolen vehicle to officers was killed. According to a news release, an officer who was pinned in his vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital.

Police say, a second person was also transported to a nearby hospital.

The I-485 ramp is still closed. Major Crash Unit is on scene and handling the investigation.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pedestrian was killed and two officers were injured following a wreck on an I-485 ramp, according to MEDIC.

The accident happened around 10:30am on the ramp of outer loop I-485 at Mt. Holly Road and has caused a significant police presence in west Charlotte.

One person was transported from the scene with life threatening injuries and another person was transported with serious injuries.
