Man Arrested For Hit-And-Run That Seriously Injured A Pedestrian

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police arrested a man who they say seriously injured a pedestrian with his vehicle before fleeing the scene on Tuesday night, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a parking lot off Sharon Lakes Road in regards to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

A pedestrian, Luis Lopez-Garcia, was found in the middle of the parking lot and was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, Baudilio Perez, was driving a Ford F150 truck, which police located at an apartment complex on Waterford Lakes Drive. However, Lopez was not there and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police said Lopez-Garcia was lying on the pavement when Perez hit him with his truck. Perez is accused of fleeing the scene and failing to render aid or contacting police.

Police arrested Perez for felony hit and run. He remains in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
