BLOWING ROCK, N.C. – A motorcyclist was ejected and killed after colliding with another vehicle in Caldwell County Friday night, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. on US 321 near Rocky Knob Road.
Officials said a Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling north while a Mercedes SUV was heading southbound. The motorcyclist allegedly crossed the center line and collided with the Mercedes, .
Robert Kampfer, 64, was ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene. The Mercedes driver and a passenger were not injured.
The highway patrol said careless and reckless driving was a contributing factor in the collision.
No charges are expected to be filed in this case.
