17-Year-Old Shot, Killed In Shelby Park

SHELBY, N.C. – A 17-year-old died after being shot at a park in Shelby on Saturday afternoon, according to the Shelby Police Department.

It happened at Jefferson Park near Buffalo Street around 3 p.m. Police said a fight started at another location and led to gun violence.

The teenager was transported by EMS to Atrium-Cleveland where he later died.

Police did not name the victim, but said he was a black male. No arrests have been made at this time.

Investigators are actively working to identify and arrest the shooter.
