RHODHISS, N.C. β The NC State Highway Patrol responded to and is investigating a fatal vehicle collision near Rhodhiss Road that resulted in the death of a motorcycle driver that was not wearing a helmet, according to a news release.
The release states that the officials responded to the collision on September 9 at 7:20 p.m. on Foxridge Drive off of Rhodhiss Road. Officials say a 2008 Jeep Compass was traveling south on Foxridge Road and entered the path of a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The driver of the motorcycle, 65-year-old Stanley Paige, was transported to a hospital in Hickory and succumbed to his injuries.
Paige was not wearing a helmet and the Highway Patrol believe excessive speed and alcohol are contributing circumstances.
The driver of the Jeep, 30-year-old Robert Hull, was not injured.
Possible charges are pending upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
