19-Year-Old Charged In Lancaster Homicide

LANCASTER, S.C. –  Police have charged a 19-year-old in connection to the murder of Jelani Jackson, according to the Lancaster Police Department.

Kenyan Blair, 19, of Lancaster, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

On Wednesday, September 4th, officers responded to Clinton Avenue near Ruth Street in regards to a victim with a gunshot wound. Jackson, 18, was found shot and was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

“Our dedicated officers and law enforcement partners devoted extensive hours to resolving the tragic shooting that resulted in the loss of a young man’s life,” Chief Don Roper said. “I am proud of the outstanding efforts of all investigators involved in this case. I want to thank our partners at the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Solicitor’s Office for their hard work and efforts on this case.”

Blair was already in custody on unrelated charges.

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
