Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office Detention Officer Charged And Fired

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office detention officer has been charged and fired due to providing an inmate a mobile phone inside his jail cell, according to a news release.

The release states that on September 6, the Sheriff’s Office discovered an inmate, 28-year-old Christopher Bell, was in possession of a mobile phone.

After an investigation, detectives say 30-year-old detention center Jocelyn Santiago provided the device to the inmate.

They also claim the inmate and the officer has been in communication and developed a personal relationship. Detectives interviewed the inmate and officer with both admitting to their involvement.

Santiago was arrested and charged with furnishing a controlled substance (cell phone) to an inmate and terminated from her position.

Bell was charged with possession of a mobile device in a detention facility.
