Football Player With Charlotte Ties Killed In Shooting

CHARLESTON, W.V. – West Virginia State University is mourning the sudden death of a football player.

Police say 21-year-old senior linebacker Jyilek Zyaire Harrington died after being shot multiple times Wednesday at a Charleston, West Virginia apartment complex.

WVSU was scheduled to play Thursday night against Carson-Newman University.

Harrington, who was from Charlotte, also used to play for Carson-Newman. 

That matchup has been rescheduled for noon on Friday to allow both teams to hold private vigils.

No suspects have been arrested.
