CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Pineville Police officer was arrested early Thursday morning in south Charlotte for driving while impaired, according to a news release.
Police say the officer’s vehicle was stopped on the side of the road around 3:30am on September 12th. The vehicle was halfway on the road and halfway on a grassy area, according to a news release.
The vehicle was not wrecked and the off-duty officer was sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine running, according to police.
Officers were able to awaken the driver who was identified as off-duty Pineville Police Officer Christopher Jackson.
After suspicion of impaired driving was established and roadside testing completed, CMPD arrested Jackson for driving while impaired and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.
Pineville Police released the following statement:
“Pineville Police holds our officers to the highest of standards and maintaining and keeping the trust of the public is paramount. We will be as open and transparent as we can be as this incident is currently under an internal affairs investigation. Mr. Jackson has been placed on administrative leave without pay at this time.”
