ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. β A Rowan County deputy crashed into an NC State Trooper after attempting to apprehend a suspect vehicle in a multi-county vehicle chase that began in Concord and ended in High Point, according to a news release.
The release states that at 5:30 a.m. on September 16, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a vehicle pursuit by the Concord Police on I-85.
A deputy assisted in the pursuit after failing to deploy drop sticks and the pursuit continued until the Prospect Street exit near High Point, where the suspect vehicle made an abrupt turn, as said by officials.
An NC State Trooper attempted to take the off ramp with the suspect, but the deputy was unable to stop and collided with the State Trooper, causing damage to both vehicles.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle due to drop sticks and fled on foot. They have not been apprehended.
The Trooper was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The deputy was evaluated by EMS.
