Speed Determined A Factor In Catawba County Collision Involving Sheriff’s Office Vehicle

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. – The NC State Highway Patrol is investigating a vehicle collision in Catawba County involving a deputy’s vehicle and several parked cars, according to a news release.

The release states that in the afternoon of September 15, a Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputy was traveling on Sherrills Ford Road to respond to a call, attempted to avoid colliding with a vehicle exiting a Dollar General parking lot.

The deputy proceeded to lose control of the vehicle and drove off the left side of the road and striking several cars in a Goldmine Store and Grill parking lot, as said by the Highway Patrol.

Speed was determined a factor in the investigation.

The deputy, 23-year-old Jarrett Isaac, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. An occupant of one of the struck parked vehicle received minor injuries.

Possible charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.
