GAMEWELL, N.C. – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a pickup truck Thursday morning in Caldwell County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened just after 9 a.m. on Old Morganton Road SW near US 64. Deputies said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling east when it struck a bicyclist leaving the Gamewell Park parking lot.
The bicyclist, 48-year-old Henry Tester, of Lenoir, died at the scene. The truck driver, 51-year-old Donald Robinson, of Candler, was not injured.
An investigation determined that Tester was not wearing any reflective clothing or a helmet, the sheriff’s office said. As such, no charges will be filed in this case.
