Apartment Complex Evacuated In York County For Bomb Threat, Suspect In Custody
Update
57-year-old Todd Bentley was arrested by the York County Sheriff’s Office after a bomb threat led to the evacuation of 70 residents at the Wylie Springs Revere Apartments on September 22.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Bentley was spray-painting graffiti on walls and cars in the complex at 10:30 a.m. were witnesses filed a report.
Deputies claim they found a suspicious device while investigating the complex and they believe it would have an attempt to start a fire.
Bentley’s vehicle was found to be rigged with a device as well, according to deputies, and residents were evacuated due to the severity of the situation and the bomb squad from multiple departments responded.
No other devices were found in the complex or in Bentley’s apartment.
Residents were allowed back into their homes at 6:45 p.m.
“We appreciate the patience of the residents in this area. Their safety was our top priority, and although they were inconvenienced for several hours, we had to ensure this situation didn’t escalate into something more serious,” said Sheriff Kevin Tolson.
Bentley is facing multiple charges, including vandalism and threatening the life of a public employee.

CLOVER, S.C. – A suspect is in custody after approximately 100 people were evacuated from their apartments in York County due to a bomb threat on Sunday afternoon, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the Revere at Lake Wylie apartment complex to investigate a potential bomb threat. Around 100 people were evacuated as a precaution, the sheriff’s office said.
A bomb squad responded to the scene to help clear the area.
One person is in custody at this time.
